BING SEARCHES INCREASE STRONGLY IN JANUARY
Bing saw a 21% increase in search volume, a jump from December’s 10.6 percent share to 12.81 in January.
Searches powered by Bing also increased, increasing by 6% and representing 27.44% of search engine traffic.
Although Google dominates the market share, Bing’s search engine success rate is higher than that of Google, where Bing/Yahoo had 82/81% success over Google’s 66%. This reflects Bing’s relevancy in search results.
DOVE & FRENCH CONNECTION TO START SELLING ON FACEBOOK
Both will launch fully transactional shops at the end of the month.
Digital Director at French Connection, Jennifer Roebuck, took the initiative after she realised she doesn’t visit the business pages on her account proactively, stating “people need to be reminded about a brand.” Sharmita Saha, Head of Business Development and Social Commerce at Digital Agency Punktillio, said US brands selling in Facebook’s newsfeed “positively affects the order rate by four times, compared with going to an external ecommerce site.”
UK HAS HIGHER USE OF MOBILE MEDIA THAN EUROPE OR US
The UK was the leading European mobile media market in December, with 22.2 million (46% of total) mobile users accessing the internet from their phones.
TfL STARTS SELLING DISPLAY AD SPACE ON SITE FOR FIRST TIME
Transport for London is selling display ad space on its website for the first time. The public sector organisation is looking to improve commercial revenue streams through digital media. They are currently advertising on the websites for British Gas, Camelot, National Express and P&O using display ads for their online Journey Planner.
