Google Admits Collecting Private Household Data via Street View
Google has admitted to doing some more evil as it owned up last week to copying household computer passwords and emails from unsecured wireless networks. The potential breach of privacy happened when taking photographs for its Street View mapping service. The UK privacy watchdog has launched an investigation to ascertain if the UK was involved.
Facebook, Amazon and Zynga launch Social Media Investment Fund
In what could be classed as more bad news for Google a new investment fund has been set up by Facebook, Zynga and Amazon to invest in new social media businesses. The $250 million fund is being managed by Kleiner Perkins. The Silicon Valley venture capital firm believes that social media is just getting started and will grow by 10-25 times in the next 5 years. Stealth start up company Cafebots is the first business to benefit, receiving $5m in investment to develop a new concept called friend relationship management.
NASA astronaut checks in to Foursquare from space
I don’t know how you manage to check in to Foursquare when travelling at 17,500 miles an hour, but Nasa have just done that, from space, 220 miles above the earth. NASA astronaut Doug Wheelock checked in while floating in zero gravity, effectively making him the Mayor of Space.
